Who We Are

Ingenio de Comunicación, Contenidos y Divertinajes is the meeting-place and workplace of a large and experienced multidisciplinary team led by Sara Gutiérrez, Doctor of Medicine and Surgery, ohhalmologist and journalist.

Her undergraduate dissertation (Oviedo, 1986): “Medical treatment of the senile cataract. Clinical trial of the  Bendazac Lysin Salt” was marked as outstanding, and her doctoral thesis (Oviedo, 1994): “Pigmentary Retinosis: a comparative study of methodology and results of treatment in Spain and the Soviet Union” was unanimously awarded Cum Laude. In addition, she received the Special Prize for Medicine of the University of Oviedo (1995).

She practised as a General Practitioner in various Health Centres in Asturias (1987-1988) before specializing in ophthalmology (Kharkov, Ukraine [1989-1992] and Moscow, Russia [1992-1995]), that qualification being validated in Spain in 1996. She is an established civil servant (Medical Health Corps, Number Two by public examination [BOE 20-11-90], on voluntary sabbatical), and acted as advisor of the Asturian Association of Pigmentary Retinosis Sufferers (1993-1995).

She is the author of various scientific articles published in specialised reviews (Archivos de la Sociedad Española de Oftalmología, Revista Oftalmológica de  Odesa, etc.) and has participated in various congresses of ophthalmology, both as a lecturer (Oviedo [1987]; Santander [1991]; Kharkov [1992]; Seville [1992]; Havana [1994]) and as an assistant (Lisbon [1988]; St. Petersburg [1993]; Oviedo [1994]).

From 1995 until 1996 she contributed from Moscow to, among others, Tiempo and Jano magazines, as well as Radio Vetusta.

From 1996 until 1998 she made from Paris numerous journalistic contributions, and her signature has appeared on articles and interviews published by: Tiempo, Viajar, El Economista, Perfiles, La Voz de Asturias... And she advised the company publishing Marie Claire on the launch of its Russian edition (1997).

In the period 1999 – 2000, she was a radio producer in the reporting section of the programme: A toda radio (Onda Cero) and kept contributing to Tiempo, but also Viajar, Grandes Viajes, DeViajes or El País Semanal.

From 2000 until 2005 she was Medical Manager at J.J. Software de Medicina, where she was responsible for co-ordinating the development of products intended for use in continuing medical training by internet (including liaising with medical companies to prepare collaboration agreements, with opinion leaders and with accreditation committees), was the sub director of the company magazine Technoclinical Times; and was responsible for designing and controlling  the content (medical and journalistic) of MEDifusion.com, and for the training of the corresponding medical and journalistic teams.

In 2003 she participated in the launch of Divertinajes.com, where she was initially responsible for two sections: Los viajes and Empeño vital (health section).

She has also been a lecturer in various conference-debates on Pigmentary Retinosis (1991-1995); in the summer course of the University of Alicante “Science and Journalism, compatible worlds?” (Cocentaina, 1998); in the Fourth National Congress of Computing in Health (Madrid, 2001); in the First International Telemedicine Congress (Madrid, 2001);  and in the Congress of Digital Journalism (Huesca, 2004).

Since January, 2006, she has been co-director of the company Ingenio de Comunicación, Contenidos y Divertinajes. In the summer of 2006, she was sub-director of the evening programme of Punto Radio, where she was also responsible for a health section that was broadcast three times a week.

She is a member of the Spanish Society of Ophthalmology.

Together with Eva Orúe, Sara Gutiérrez is the author of the following books: Rusia en la encrucijada (Espasa-Calpe, 1997), Historias de miopes (Ediciones del Prado, 1999), Rutas del Prerrománico asturiano (Jaguar, 1999), Zaragoza (Jaguar, 1999), Locas por el fútbol (Temas de Hoy, 2001), Mujeres contra la guerra (Belacqua, 2003), and Padres e hijos (Ediciones B, 2005).

As sole author, Sara Gutiérrez has produced: Retinosis Pigmentaria. Clasificación y tratamiento (Servicio de Publicaciones de la Universidad de Oviedo, 1995); La dermatología a través de los siglos (Momento Médico Iberoamericana, 2007) and El último verano de la URSS (Reino de Cordelia, 2021).

With chef Manuel Gutiérrez Torre, she is author of Cocina para embarazadas (Jaguar, 1999).

Besides, she has translated from Russian to Spanish: La pulga de acero (Nikolái Leskov. Impedimenta, 2007). Cartas de París (Alexander Ródchenko. La Fábrica, 2009), Relatos de Yásnaia Poliana (Lev Tólstoi. Rey Lear, 2010), La señal y otros relatos (Vsevolod Garshin. Contraseña, 2010), Los vagabundos (Maksím Gorki. Reino de Cordelia, 2012), Los osos (Vsevolod Garshin. Contraseña, 2012), and Doctor Krupov (Alexandr Herzen (Ardicia, 2014).
